About Us

Sweet and Innocent Child at Casa BugambiliaJuntos Servimos, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, was organized under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act in 2004 to support the humanitarian work of Dr. Nancy Rodriguez and Larry Cox at Casa Bugambilia in the Derechos Humanos colonia in Matamoros, Mexico.

Dr. Nancy Rodriguez, a licensed medical doctor, began serving the Matamoros colonias in 1997. She soon found that true healing required more than medicine. It required a transformation in the patient’s living conditions and spirit. Dr. Nancy began collaborating with Larry Cox, a volunteer leading and coordinating volunteer groups in building homes for poor families on the northern Mexico border. Dr. Nancy’s and Larry’s joint efforts expanded to include all the things needed for physical and spiritual wholeness -- medical care, adequate and nutritious food, reliable, clean water, good sanitation, sound shelter from the elements, and education for the children. In 2003, Dr. Nancy and Larry began Casa Bugambilia, a permanent center housing a medical clinic and community kitchen and providing temporary refuge for those with no alternative but the streets, as well as financial support to help colonia children attend school.

Since its founding, Casa Bugambilia’s efforts to bring healing and opportunity have adapted to the changing needs of the community it serves. The original needs brought to Dr. Nancy and Larry were mostly for simple medical consultations and home construction. As they gained the trust and confidence of the community, they were presented with additional and more complex requests. In addition to medical consultations, the clinic facilitates the treatment of complex conditions that would otherwise be ignored, is as a center for the treatment and prevention of chronic conditions, such as diabetes, and shelters ill and abandoned persons. Casa Bugambilia also sponsors a learning readiness program for preschool children, as well as individualized instruction for elementary school students to help them reach their full potential.
