Las Escuelitas - Supplemental Tutoring
Las Escuelitas – Supplemental Tutoring
Even though the teachers and parents of children attending the local public elementary school may recognize that a student is in danger of falling behind, often there are no resources available at the school or in the family to help the child. In 2006, Casa Bugambilia established a supplemental tutoring program – Las Escuelitas (Little Schools) – to complement the local elementary school curriculum and support elementary school students in all aspects of their learning, including important values such as punctuality, diligence and respect for others.
At a classroom facility built by Casa Bugambilia volunteers next to the Derechos Humanos public elementary school, a local elementary teacher leads students in daily two hour sessions through drills and exercises to reinforce the elementary school curriculum.
