Visit Casa Bugambilia
You are invited to serve as a volunteer at Casa Bugambilia. Individually or with a group, you are welcome to join us as we work with the people of the colonias to transform their community into one of physical and spiritual wholeness. Some of these efforts include:
- Building a home for someone who is being made ill by poor shelter.
- Helping a child with arithmetic or reading.
- Helping to prepare and distribute food to the hungry.
- Visiting people in their homes to find out if there is an untreated medical condition.
- Providing, and training other to provide, physical and occupational therapy.
- Helping create wellness programs for preventable disease, such as diabetes.
Volunteers are an essential part of Casa Bugambilia’s response to the needs of the colonias. They have helped transform the colonias by using their skills in the areas of medicine and physical therapy, education, construction, engineering and architecture. You can contact our Mission Director, Larry Cox, to discuss your visit to Casa Bugambilia.
Larry can be reached at:

Larry will check for available space, as well as advise you regarding the logistics of your visit, including options for transportation in Matamoros and places to stay.
When you choose to visit Casa Bugambilia, you are choosing to contribute not only your time, but also your financial gift, and possibly the financial gift of people supporting you, to transform the colonias. For a visit of less than one week, we request $50 per person per day to cover the cost of supplies and other expenses incurred supporting your visit, as well as to support Casa Bugambilia’s response to the community. Individuals who are interested in visiting for an extended period of time should contact Larry to discuss an appropriate donation. Side-by-side with your contribution is the commitment of the entire Casa Bugambilia community – volunteers permanently in the colonias as well as financial sponsors throughout the United States and Mexico -- to support each mission trip volunteer the best we can.
Once your visit is confirmed, you will work with our Executive Director, Ellen Curnes, to assure that all required forms and payments are received prior to your arrival at Casa Bugambilia. Each volunteer serving at Casa Bugambilia is required to complete a participation agreement. CLICK HERE to download the Casa Bugambilia Volunteer Information and Release Agreement. |
